Our whitewater rafting trips vary in duration, with trips available daily May through October, for our 2012 season.

We operate on the border of Northeastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula within the Upper Midwest’s Great Northwoods. NA specializes in exceptional white water rafting trips through legendary Piers Gorge on the Menominee River, and the wild Sturgeon River Canyon during high water periods.

The Menominee River difference

The Menominee River is dam controlled with regular releases mandated to deliver a minimum amount of water daily. That minimum required release is significant enough to cover most of the rocks in the riverbed, allowing for enjoyable professional river trips down the Menominee throughout the rafting season. In comparison, the wild rivers in our area have low water levels a majority of the time, and trips down them involve more pushing, pulling, and dragging than paddling, especially in July and August if you are in a raft. Single person inflatable kayaks, commonly referred to as ‘duckies’, ‘thrillcats’ or ‘fun-yaks’, are often required to run these rivers as they do not generally have enough water in them for larger multi-person rafts. As an outfitter, our focus is on creating positive rafting experiences for our clientele. For this reason, our regular trips run on the Menominee River, and we only operate on the other rivers in our area during periods of high water.
